Wir schreiben das Jahr 1834. Texas ist von Mexiko unabhängig geworden und soll nun nach Willen von US-Präsident Housten in die Vereinigten Staaten eingegliedert werden. Um dieses Vorhaben umzusetzen schickt er seine Agenten Deaf Smith und Johnny Ears nach Texas, wo sie mit Major McDonald auf dieses Ziel hinarbeiten sollen. Smith und Ears kommen aber zu spät, denn McDonald ist mitsamt seiner Familie schon von den Söldnern des machthungrigen General Morton getötet worden.
